2020 LWB VW Transporter T30 Highline Campervan – 150bhp DSG
For sale on behalf of our own member of staff and has previously been our demonstration vehicle - "owned since being a panel van and decided early last year to convert it and have spared no expense creating the ideal camper build. I have only taken it camping twice, and it wanted for nothing. It drives exceptionally well more like a car thanks to the automatic DSG gearbox and the well-equipped 150bhp engine. This was a key requirement for my build, as these engines are widely regarded as the most reliable option to comfortably handle the additional weight of a conversion while remaining dependable and trouble-free."
The Van
The van came to me after a short period of ownership by a handyman who owned it for only a couple of months after purchasing it from a VW main dealer (I believe it may have been repossessed, although this cannot be confirmed). It came with the remainder of a VW Approved Warranty and a service plan. It was a completely standard panel van, fully ply-lined in the rear and in excellent condition, with the Highline specification I had been searching for.
The van has covered approximately 92,XXX miles (this may rise slightly), and I have added around 4,500 miles during my ownership. Road tax currently costs £345 per year or £181 for six months. Being a T30 load-rated vehicle, the van can be MOT’d as a Class 4 vehicle, meaning any standard car garage can carry out the MOT- a small but convenient benefit.
Factory Specification
The van benefits from the following factory features:
* Air conditioning
* Rear parking sensors
* Power-folding wing mirrors
* Heated front windscreen
* Two remote keys
* A pillar Interior grab handles
* Single sliding door
* Rear barn doors
* Factory-painted bumpers
* Front fog lights
* Cruise control
* 7-speed DSG gearbox
* Black Pearl metallic paint
* 70-litre fuel tank
Service History & Maintenance
The van has an excellent service history, with full VW main dealer servicing including brake fluid and air-conditioning services. A dealer print-out is provided.
During my ownership, I have also carried out the following work:
* DSG oil and filter service (September '25)
* Genuine cambelt and water pump replacement (approximately 1,000 miles ago/October '25)
* Genuine coolant replacement
* Genuine oil and oil filter service (October '25)
* New crank pulley seal (replaced proactively during cam-belt change)
* New front wiper blades
* New CV boot on NSF
* New auxiliary belt and tensioner
* New heater fan resistor
These major service items have been addressed and should keep the van running reliably for years to come.
I have spent time inspecting the underside of the van and can confidently say there are no issues with rust or oil leaks, although you are very welcome to inspect this yourself.
Additional Upgrades
To further enhance the van, I have also added:
* Wolfbox front and rear camera system, doubling as a rear-view mirror, dash cam, and parking sentry camera
* Genuine 17” Davenport alloy wheels (a set of 16” Clayton wheels with good tyres can also be included if preferred)
* Body-colour rear barn-door roof spoiler
* Engine undertray (added for protection and noise reduction, as not all vans are fitted with this from factory)
* Rear bumper foam protector to prevent damage
* Caravelle door seals for improved sound suppression
* Transporter HQ V3 LED headlights (H7 LED bulbs, fully MOT compliant and E-marked for UK use; original headlights included if required)
* Single passenger captain seat conversion (original double bench seat included)
* Head unit and speaker upgrade with wireless Apple CarPlay, Musway door and A-pillar speakers fitted for exceptional sound quality.
* Comprehensive sound deadening throughout the van, including doors, rear panels, and underfloor, resulting in a noticeably quieter and more refined driving experience (build photos to show this)
Overall Condition
The bodywork is in excellent condition and appears to retain all original paint. There are a few minor marks, a small crease on the passenger rear quarter and blemishes consistent with age and mileage, so please review the photos carefully or ask for further details.
The rear door has a deadlock fitted, which I chose to keep as I did not want rear windows. Windows could be added and the deadlock removed easily if preferred.
Tyres and brakes are in good condition and do not appear to require replacement anytime soon. All fluids are at the correct levels, coolant temperature remains stable at 90°C, and the air conditioning blows ice-cold. The blower motor resistor has recently been replaced and now functions correctly on all settings (a common issue).
The van also comes with a full 12-month MOT.
The Conversion
Many campervans on the market feature poor-quality or budget conversions while still commanding premium prices. This van is not one of them. Every component has been carefully selected based on experience and research to ensure quality, reliability, and functionality.
Extensive sound deadening, closed-cell foam, and Dodo thermal fleece insulation have been used throughout, with all exposed metal carpet-lined in Harrison Trim graphite carpet. The floor features sound deadening, insulation, a single-piece 12mm plywood floor and heavy-duty Altro vinyl flooring in a Dolphin finish. New deep entry steps added for a factory appearance.
Externally, two tinted windows have been fitted: a safari pop-out window on the driver’s side and a fixed pane on the sliding door. An electric hook-up point is fitted on the driver’s side - colour matched to the paintwork, while the passenger side features a Vanmoose awning rail paired with a Fiamma F45S wind-out awning, plus a dimmable 12V COB LED light strip for external lighting (very handy!).
Interior & Electrical System
The layout features a 112cm RIB bed (M1 crash-tested), a full-length 'Davanco' kitchen in slate grey lightweight ply, and a solid oak worktop. Storage is plentiful, lighting is LED and fully dimmable, and the kitchen includes a 50L fridge, twin-ring gas hob, sink with folding tap (unused), internal 10L water tank (unused), and gas cupboard with drop-out vent.
The electrical system includes:
* 100Ah lithium leisure battery
* CTEK D250SE DC-DC charger & MPPT
* 200W slimline solar panel
* Scanstrut waterproof gland
* Victron IP22 15A mains charger
* Victron Shunt Bluetooth battery monitor
* Bluesea isolation switch and 12v distribution board
* Quality CBE USB A & C charging points
A professionally installed Autoterm D2 diesel heater underneath the van provides rapid and thermostatically controlled heating using the programmable comfort controller.
Poptop
A Storm pop-top roof with charcoal scenic canvas has been fitted, featuring panoramic front opening, side mesh windows, blinds, and roof bars rated up to approx 70kg. A laminated ply roof bed is installed and can be adapted to create additional sleeping space if required. I’ve only used the current 'bed board' to house the LED cob strips and for thermal/acoustic reason.
Final Notes
The van has genuinely only used the van for two trips: one week in Scotland and one visit to the Forest of Dean. While we absolutely love it, new business opportunities and a potential house move mean it simply isn’t being used enough.
